FAQ

Is this system hard to use?

Most students report it’s basic, like ordering a pizza online.

I’d like some help with how to share my letter of accommodation

Check out our YouTube tutorial video showing you the steps.

Or, come ask at our front desk at CAL and we will make an arrangement to give you a hand.

Can you just do this for me?

No, but we can help you interact with the student portal in a face-to-face appointment if you like.

Does this system automatically release my accommodation letters for me?

No, that is done by you by interacting with this site and providing the details needed.

Does this system automatically book my accommodated exams for me?

No, that is done by you by making your booking request here.

When should I share my letters of accommodation?

Course instructors need as much notice time as possible to read, consider and possibly consult on the content of the letter and make logistical arrangements for the accommodation if it is to be provided.

We strongly recommend that you share your letters of accommodation beginning one week prior to the start of your classes each term, but no later than the end of the second month.

Due to the variable types and durations of courses in the summer or for courses with short durations falling across some programs, please share the letter as close to the beginning of the term as possible.

Do I have to use the self serve every term?

Yes, if you want your instructors to receive your letter of accommodation and if you need to write exams with CAL with accommodations.

Is my privacy secure?

Yes

  • the system is encrypted and relies on your Camosun password-authenticated login.
  • and only course instructors assigned by the department as responsible for teaching or overseeing your course and CAL staff can see your letter.
